Students use a variety of methods to improve understanding and remain focused during lectures. Some make short notes, some write longer notes. Some students like to doodle and draw, while some prefer to just concentrate on listening.
After a lecture, review your notes and plan future reading. It’s a good idea to discuss a lecture with your peers to share understanding.
Whatever system works best for you is the best system to use. The important thing to remember is to reflect on how effective your strategies are, and to try a different strategy if you feel you are not learning from lectures.
