AW Feature 4

Feature-224 Academic writing is open to being evaluated and built on by others

Just as academic writing is produced through engaging with prior research and thought, it is also accessible for other scholars to read, evaluate, critique, and expand on. This is why clear communication is important: your readers cannot build on your work if the writing style is impossible to understand. This is also one of the principles behind documenting sources using referencing: when your sources are properly cited your reader is able to consult them for themselves.
