Every postgraduate course at GSA will involve some degree of writing. Good academic writing has the key features of:
- clearly communicating ideas and research
- demonstrating critical thinking
- belonging to and building on an existing body of knowledge
- being open to being evaluated and built on by others
- being inclusive and thoughtful with language
At postgraduate level you will be expected to demonstrate critical awareness of the disciplinary context of your writing, including the academic writing conventions for your particular discipline. For example, the referencing system you use and whether you use the first person ‘I’, will depend on the discipline in which your work is based in.
