‘Your Voice’ in Extended Academic Writing

When:  Tuesday 6^th May at 3.30pm for one hour

Where: the Library Quiet Space (upstairs)

Facilitated by Dr Anna Fisk, LS&D

At this Learning Support and Development workshop, we will discuss:

• communicating clearly in academic writing
• your academic style and personal voice
• integrating the words of others into your writing
• the writing process and its challenges

This workshop is the last of the Moving On to Extended Academic Writing series, designed to help undergraduate and postgraduate students prepare for extended academic writing (any written task above a 5,000 word count).  Students preparing for their Honours year or who are already working on an extended writing assignment will find this workshop useful.

Moving On to Extended Writing

In response to student feedback, Learning Support & Development are hosting a series of workshops this term to help students prepare for extended academic writing at GSA (any written task above a 5,000 word count).

The workshops will focus on the importance of communicating clearly in academic writing and will provide an opportunity for you to think about what topic and thesis you will write about, and which kind of writing is most suitable for you.

All students are welcome to attend; third year students contemplating an Honours year, or already engaged in an extended writing practice will find these workshops particularly relevant.

Getting Your Ideas Funded

Cook, Taste and Share Recipes From Around the World

A tasty opportunity to learn about new recipes and food! We are holding a cooking demonstration for students to show off their favourite recipes and foods.This is your opportunity to come along and help with the cooking or come and taste and learn. All students are welcome – we are particularly looking for students who have a recipe from home (whether home is Scotland, China, USA etc) to share.Contact Fiona or Graeme at welfare@gsa.ac.uk.
